After Hidan kills Asuma, Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji set off to avenge their former sensei with the help of Kakashi, and the ensuing battle is a sight to behold because Hidan is an exceptional fighter when using his three-bladed scythe. Shikamaru ends up defeating him by trapping him with paper bombs that blow him apart-this does not kill him however, but he was immediately buried alive in a pit.

Kakuzu was Hidan's partner and the second oldest member of the Akatsuki, and when the former Waterfall shinobi left his village he stole a scroll that allowed him to steal the hearts of other ninjas-which allowed him to extend his own life while using all five elements. During the fight with Shikamaru's team and Kakashi , Kakuzu possessed five hearts, and in order to put him down for good each heart needed to be destroyed. Kakashi destroyed the first heart with his Lightning Blade, the second was destroyed by Hidan by accident, and Naruto destroyed the remaining hearts with one Rasenshuriken, but it was Kakashi who delivered the killing blow just to be safe.

Itachi Uchiha agreed to slaughter his entire clan in order to prevent a violent coup in the Leaf Village, but he spared his younger brother Sasuke. He then agreed to join the Akatsuki in order to gather information on the group for the Leaf Village. Itachi died while battling Sasuke, but the fight is not what ultimately killed him.

Itachi had been dealing with an incurable illness for years, and he only fought Sasuke because he knew his death was coming. Deidara was a member of the Stone Village's Explosion Corps, a position he earned thanks to his ability to create explosions with his chakra. He also used banned techniques to give himself mouths on his palms and chest-which he used to mold explosive clay.

Deidara commits suicide trying to blow up Sasuke but he survived. Later, Tobi in his true self appeared to Pain and Konan. He tells them to collect the Nine-tails while he goes after Sasuke. Sasuke faces Itachi one-on-one, while Naruto and his friends go up against Tobi. When Itachi dies, Zetsu alerts Tobi and they collect Sasuke. Tobi then indoctrinates Sasuke in the ways of Madara Uchiha, successfully turning Sasuke against his former friends and allies.

Tobi sends Sasuke and his team now known as Taka to retrieve Eight-Tails, but they are tricked and only manage to bring in one of it's tentacles. Jiraiya infiltrates the Rain Village hoping to find out more on the Akatsuki leader, only to find that it is lead by his former pupils, Nagato and Konan. He goes up against Konan and then Nagato's Animal Path. When Nagato is forced to use all six bodies against Jiraiya, he successfully kills him.

A large number of ninja are killed and Pain manages to level most of the village with his gravity Jutsu. Just then, Naruto arrives, having mastered Senjutsu, and defeats all Six Paths. He then confronts Nagato and while angry that Nagato would kill their mentor, he finds it in his heart to forgive him. Nagato, touched by Naruto's character, pays him back by reviving all the dead residents of Konoha. He dies from exhaustion and Konan leaves Akatsuki.

Zetsu spreads his spores, allowing him to drain their chakra. Sasuke then takes on all the Kage, managing to take the Raikage's arm. Tobi then appears, declaring himself as Madara Uchiha and demanding that the Eight and Nine-Tails be handed to him. When the Kage refuse, he declares war on them. Hoshigaki Kisame tracks down Killer B and fights him, only to be defeated by the tag-team of Raikage and Jinchukiri.

Its later revealed that he had switched places with a Zetsu clone and was hiding in his sword. Sasuke takes them on one-by-one before Tobi calls him back. Sasuke, now wishing to kill everyone he ever knew, has Itachi's eyes transplanted into his own to give him greater power. Kabuto approaches Tobi, offering his allegiance. When he presents the five dead Akatsuki members as reanimated corpses, along with a sixth coffin that has Tobi scared, he reluctantly agrees.

Kisame sneaks into the secret training grounds of the Jinchuriki. When Naruto masters Nine-Tails' chakra, he uncovers Kisame hiding in his sword. Kisame flees, only to be beaten by Might Guy.

When they try to interrogate him, Kisame summons several sharks who tear him apart. Kabuto tries to ambush them, but is intercepted by the Tsuchikage. He does, however, manage to kidnap Yamato and Tobi fuses him to the Senju tree to make his Zetsu army stronger. Tobi meets up with Konan, who tries to kill him, but is ultimately unsuccessful. Tobi uses genjutsu to find Nagato's location and leaves Konan to die. Itachi partnered with Kisame -died 9. Hidan partnered with Kakuzu -not sure if alive or dead Btw Itachi and Kisame are the only partneres who dont fight or argue than other members.

Konan is not dead she left after Pein died!!!! In the manga Konan is dead,Madara killed her in a fight trying to get info where she left Nagato's body to receive the Rinnegan. These included some of the strongest, most fearsome fighters in the entire series. Each member of the group was very powerful, and had unique abilities in their arsenal. The group had several Kekkei Genkai users, which made them difficult to deal with. Yet, the members of Akatsuki weren't necessarily equal in terms of strength.

Some outclassed others in their prowess, as listed below. Zetsu was the weakest member of the Akatsuki. He specialized in infiltrating different places and gathering intel. Throughout his time in the organization, he was never involved in a serious fight that would show his fighting capabilities. In the end, Zetsu was just biding his time so that he could resurrect Kaguya Otsutsuki.

He had no real powers, and instead mainly acted as support for others. Hidan was a missing ninja from Yugakure, who joined the Akatsuki and teamed up with Kakuzu.

Kisame called the two of them were called the Zombie Duo, as they were almost unkillable. Hidan was immortal, and used the blood of his opponent to subdue and kill them. His immortality made it very difficult to fight him; however, despite his immortality, Hidan didn't make the most of it. He was eventually defeated by Shikamaru Nara.
